01:03 stroughtonsmith MeeGo's wifi is driving me nuts. I have the wifi driver inserted and loaded, and it scans and shows the local networks and connects, but dhcp doesn't work nor can I assign it manually
01:05 ali1234 are you using 1.1?
01:05 stroughtonsmith yeah
01:05 ali1234 it has a known bug that as soon as you connect to some wifi ap, that's it. whatever settings it gives you are permanent
01:07 stroughtonsmith yeah, I'm aware of that, but there are fixes to that
01:07 stroughtonsmith none of them are working on the HD2 tho
01:07 stroughtonsmith have tried to set everything manually but it's still not reaching remote devices
01:08 stroughtonsmith as in:
01:08 stroughtonsmith iwconfig eth0 essid Home-G
01:08 stroughtonsmith ifconfig eth0 inet 192.168.1.23 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 up
01:08 stroughtonsmith that sort of stuff
01:08 DuperMan reinstall wifi driver?:D j/k. purge settings stuffs
01:08 stroughtonsmith the settings aren't saved after a reboot
01:08 stroughtonsmith so it's not that
01:09 DuperMan ah. sounded at first like it's ran as higher perms user on first go
01:09 DuperMan but then it shouldv'e been saved past boot
01:09 stroughtonsmith the touchscreen part bugs me more
01:10 stroughtonsmith not sure whether I need to mod the kernel, or continue trying everything on xorg
01:10 stroughtonsmith doesn't help that this kernel compile isn't mine :P
01:11 DuperMan :| there's that calibration app for x, no? ages since I messed with it, also wasn't on nearly a similar setup
01:11 stroughtonsmith the locations are calibrated
01:11 stroughtonsmith so dont think thats the issue
01:11 DuperMan how does it misbehave?
01:11 stroughtonsmith treats clicks as drags
01:12 stroughtonsmith may be the kernel itself :/
01:12 DuperMan latency-ness
01:12 DuperMan lower sample rate?
01:12 stroughtonsmith dunno how to change that
01:13 DuperMan ah. may well hafta dig into da kernel
01:13 stroughtonsmith yeah, I think it's cotulla's work so plan on asking about it
01:15 ali1234 what kernel version is it?
01:15 stroughtonsmith Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.32.15-gd09adbb #141 PREEMPT Thu Dec 30 19:14:35 CET 2010 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux
01:15 stroughtonsmith the one from http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo_autobuild/
01:16** samsunguy_testin is now known as samsunguy_testin
01:17 stroughtonsmith ergh I guess I'm going to spend the rest of the night compiling my own kernel. fun
01:17 ali1234 i doubt cotulla will want to help you with that kernel, it's not directly one of his
01:17 stroughtonsmith he did the touchscreen driver work however
01:19 ali1234 ah i think i know what your problem is
01:19 stroughtonsmith hmm?
01:19 ali1234 something to do with GPIO interrupts probably
01:20 ali1234 the touchscreen sends a generic interrupt by raising/lowering a GPIO line when it is pressed/released (at least, the ones i have used do that)
01:20 ali1234 now if your board is not configured properly it might be only receiving rising or falling edge interrupts or something like that
01:21 stroughtonsmith custom kernel is it, then :P way to spend a night :D
01:21 ali1234 well, if you want a custom kernel, here are some hints
01:21 ali1234 don't use the meego toolchain, it's too new for that kernel
01:22 ali1234 get codesourcery 2008q1 or 2008q3 or 2009q1
01:22 ali1234 personally i like 2008q1
01:22 stroughtonsmith ergh
01:23 ali1234 the kernel you have should have the /proc/config enabled so you can get the .config easily
01:24 stroughtonsmith doesn't seem like it does
01:24 stroughtonsmith cat: /proc/config: No such file or directory
01:24 ali1234 try /proc/config.gz
01:24 stroughtonsmith ah wait
01:24 stroughtonsmith yeah
01:24 stroughtonsmith got it
01:25 stroughtonsmith can't seem to find the standard hd2 ubuntu kernel repo
01:25 stroughtonsmith ah here we go
